Polrode and the Environment:
We endeavour to be as green as possible without
compromising on the comfort of our guests. Wood burning stoves,
fuelled from our woods, are carbon neutral and supports our central
heating system. Much of our refuse is recycled or composted. Energy
efficient light bulbs reduce our electricity consumption, and
ecologically friendly laundry and cleaning products are kind to our
rivers.
We endeavour to support local food suppliers and use much of our own
organic produce, minimising food miles and ensuring the freshest and
best quality products. The water at Polrode comes from our own
spring.
The cottage and gardens are set in an SSSI (Site of Special
Scientific Interest) along the River Allen. Our organic approach to
gardening supports the wide range of wild flora and fauna to be
found here.
